Business Goal Alignment
Many organisations struggle to control the relationship between their strategic business goals and the projects and programmes that are put in place to realise them. We help businesses to gain control of this relationship.
This means putting into the hands of managers the ability to identify and manage the linkages between business goals and the lower-level activities in the business. We do this by applying techniques, processes and tools from the domain of systems engineering.
The application of systems engineering disciplines in a business context helps to clarify the key dependencies between the business drivers (objectives, goal and values) and business outputs, and hence provides management with an objective framework for decision making.
Our approach recognises that introducing the disciplines of business goal alignment into an organisation requires appropriate decisions to be made in the areas of information, people, process and tool support. In addition, we understand that strong organisational buy-in is needed, which in turn depends on a clear exposition of benefits and associated costs.
We therefore take a phased approach, beginning by working with client teams to identify the information that needs to be managed, the business processes that need modifying and the likely effects on job roles, culture and behaviour. This provides a firm basis for agreeing benefits and costs and for developing an implementation and roll-out plan jointly with the client.
